Cagliari is the capital of Sardinia — a city of pink hills overlooking a gulf of turquoise sea, with an intact medieval historic quarter (Castello), an 8 km white sandy promenade (Poetto), and a strategic position in the south of the island that gives access to the most unspoilt beaches in the Mediterranean. Cagliari-Elmas airport (CAG) has a general aviation terminal, 10 minutes from the city centre and 20 minutes from the beaches of Villasimius and the Sarrabus. By jet, Cagliari is 2h30 from Paris and 1 hour from Milan.
flight_takeoffBook a flightCagliari is less touristy than the Costa Smeralda but no less exclusive for those who know it. The beaches of south-eastern Sardinia (Villasimius, Punta Molentis, Cala Caterina, Is Arutas) are among the finest in Europe — white or quartz-grey sand, translucent water, preserved natural surroundings. The Molentargius lagoon (free-roaming flamingos 5 minutes from the centre) and the salinas of Sant’Antioco in the south-west are exceptional ecosystems.
The gastronomy of southern Sardinia blends Punic, Roman, and Aragonese influences: bottarga di muggine from Cabras (north, but essential), porceddu from the nuraghe villages of Barumini, fiore sardo cheese, and Carignano del Sulcis and Vermentino di Sardegna wines. Dal Corsaro and Ristorante Assaggi are Cagliari’s finest tables.

All your questions about private jets to Cagliari
Olbia (OLB) is the gateway to the Costa Smeralda (north) — more luxurious, more expensive, more fashionable. Cagliari (CAG) is the gateway to the south — less touristy, wilder beaches, more authentic gastronomy, and less saturated in summer. For lovers of unspoilt nature and secret beaches (Villasimius, Is Arutas), Cagliari is far superior.
Between £8,500 and £16,000 one way, a 2h30 flight. Cagliari is slightly further from Paris than Olbia and requires a midsize jet for comfort. CAG airport is less congested than OLB in summer — slots are easier to obtain and handling prices are more reasonable.
Forte Village Resort (Pula, south-west coast of Sardinia) is 30 minutes from CAG by car — one of the most acclaimed hotel complexes in the world (named best beach hotel in Europe many times over). Its access from CAG is direct, making it a logistically ideal choice for families arriving by private jet.
Su Nuraxi di Barumini (UNESCO) is 1 hour from CAG — the cyclopean Bronze Age stone towers (1500–1000 BC) are unique in the world and constitute one of the best-preserved prehistoric archaeological sites in Europe. Private guided tours can be arranged before official opening for VIP groups via the local foundation.
Bottarga di muggine (dried and pressed mullet roe) is the emblematic gastronomic product of Sardinia — produced mainly at Cabras (Oristano, 1h30 north of CAG). In Cagliari, the finest delicatessens (Eataly, stalls at the Mercato di San Benedetto) stock the best artisan production. Grated over pasta with olive oil and lemon zest, it is incomparable.
Yes — Cagliari is ideally positioned for yachts sailing between the French Riviera/Corsica and Sicily/Malta. Cagliari marina has infrastructure for vessels up to 60 metres. For larger superyachts, the commercial port offers suitable quays. A Cagliari stop allows provisioning, repairs, and access to an authentic city far from the crowded marinas of northern Sardinia.
